    P38 snorkel

The snorkel is finally on the Hard Rangie

It has been a busy couple of days for Andy and I... just cleaning up now.

Pics to follow later this evening, including:

    • front diff guard (one that is not a shovel)
    • HRA 3-hoop bar with work lamps

Unfortunately, the sliders have slid (so to speak), but the rear bar/carrier should be ready by the LR Expo next weekend.

Should also have the Warne 9000 winch fitted to the HRA bar then too.

Here are the pics promised earlier.

    First fitting

    Fitted with my guard

Pic from tonight after re-fitting the 3-hoop Roo Bar and adding 2x 18W LED work lamps

Not so happy with the Safari head, which sticks about 60mm above the roof line. Will look at other options, including making our own and/or having it integral to the mould.

Also, need to finalise the fitting between the guard and the air box to get a good seal.

A few imperfections/lines in the mould that will get smoothed out in the the next version.

Also looking at a shadow indent for branding along the horizontal run.

Not a bad effort for the first one.

...and it fits under my garage door (on highway mode) by a whisper

    Cheers
    Paul.

I'm looking forward too!! I had no luck with my snorkel... Not enough time to pull everything apart properly and get right in there for a look!

I've had the dubious pleasure of looking at it!

    Looking good Paul/Andrew.

Any place on the snorkel mountings for adding a CB aerial?

    Regards

possibly one of those aerial mounts that sticks out the side of the bonnet could be attached to one of the bolts on the guard... see pic below

Next mould will have thicker/wider tabs to improve strength, although these are surprisingly strong and rigid as is.

    Cheers, Paul.

    Paul:
How does the Snorkel affect visibility from a Driving Perspective.
Because of it's location is it effectively "Hidden" completely by the Pillar?

    Looks fantastic, definitely eager

Looks good Paul, good work both of you Looks like I'm going to have to convince the Mrs that this is a necessity, not a want..

I'm guessing by looking at the pics that this hooks up to the bottom of the airbox where the current water sucker is attached? Are there any airbox mods that need to be done? Also, what is it actually made out of?

    Cheers,
    Keels.
