Yes, it is. Even cutting the duct is hard, as stanley knife and hacksaw blades are difficult in the confined space. Use a rope saw (like a necklace with a ring on each end for your fingers) to get around the duct and cut it. I think cutting it in two places is going to give us the best access, retaping it after is not as difficult. Thanks to Willem for the tip.
Moving the duct around in situ without cutting it damages the duct end fittings too much IMO (unless I am doing it wrong). It really is a bugger.
I couldnt get the rope saw from bunnings or supercheap, so I think a camping store like anaconda or BCF would be a good chance.
