    Smile

If you borrowed another car and said a prayer, I can tell you he did a wonderful job. He could probably even make you a second key.

In saying that Rupert Prior right here in Syd - AUS can probably sort you out just as well.

The next thing on the list is to check the drivers door lock mechanism.

I put some info in this thread which describes a preliminary check you can do.

    http://www.aulro.com/afvb/p38a-range...h-problem.html

Then, if it is still a problem you will likely need to replace the door lock mechanism, so this thread will also be helpful

    http://www.aulro.com/afvb/p38a-range...oor-latch.html

Further down the list is replacing / reprogramming the BeCM !! Let's hope you don't need to go there.

Easy solution - buy another P38... when one "fails to proceed in a forward motion" you have the other to drive. From a purely practical perspective, a second P38 is a good idea as a "control" vehicle for when you are tweaking things on the primary P38.

His and Her (or me/myself) P38's sitting in the driveway is a satisfying sight

Did you have any luck contacting the local guy, Rupert Prior, do you have any contact details. I'm suddenly started having a similar issue.

mY fob close the door but will not open it, I have to use the key manually in the lock. The red light does not come on when trying to open. Similarly, I only have one key. Haven't neede a code yet, but looking through the booklets that came with the RR, I don't appear to have any sort of security codes, which is a worry.

Anyhow, if you've had any success, would be interested to hear.
    Cheers,
    Rolo

If the light doesn't work on the fob, then it's probably a switch issue.
Pop off the button cover & you'll see the switches - see if the switch works by pressing it directly.

There's a few guys in the Sydney area who know a fair bit about these if you do get stuck.
RP as above but Mechanic2You (on here with the same name, 0419 427 162) & LAB Electronics are also clued up on these cars.

    Hi Rolo,
I believe Rupert is the man in Sydney for this issue.
Our phonecalls missed each other and since been to busy to follow up.
If you take the rubber section off the FOB you may see small metal buttons that should be centred in each hole. Mine have been dislodged and therefore need to be soldered back into place.
From the look of mine they are very delicate and I am sure my two thumbs and my solder iron the size of a large screwdriver will make a mess of it.
For now I have just been using the key.
If you need assistance on this Rupert is often on this forum or at least looks on it, alternatively I can pm his number to you.
