today I said good bye to my dear P38 diesel.
this was a sad day, after 10 years as a trusty family transporter, across many European countries and the last 4 years in Aus it was time to let it go. No, it really was a sad event, Rangies seem to be able to become a family pet rather than just a car (wtf).
it was also a happy day, no, not for the reasons that you may think.
It was not a happy day because you think I was relieving myself of a burdensome range rover fraught with stories of horror and expense, this was far from being the case. It was a happy day as the new owners were looking forward to getting as much pleasure from the old Rangie as we have had. It was good to see the youngsters climbing around the inside of the cavernous interior with as much excitement as my kids did 10 years ago.
I'm not sure that an old patrol or landcruiser would have been met with as much enthusiasm.
it also demonstrates that with a history of TLC an old P38 can still be relied upon to deliver.
Thanks to all and good luck to the rest
It's sadder that I'm not the new owner!
If funds were better I would have bought it...
