    Canberra weather..................brass monkeys

I have noticed first thing on a morning, and its freezing, the dreaded book and exclamation mark, comes on in the temp window. If i turn the engine off and restart, its gone.

Could this be something to do with the cold and damp we experience.

derpomz, thankfully the p38 has a pretty good heating system! I would more likely expect it to be one of the blend motors that controls the recirculation/fresh air control. As a quick test, whilst the heater is working without the book symbol push the recirculation button. If it comes on then then one of the blend motors that opens and closes the flaps is either jammed or broken. If it is jammed you may be able to , free it up by accessing the flap located below the pollen filter. Sing out if you need assistance locating them.

    Cheers mate.

I noticed when i changed the pollen filters, it appears as though they have never been changed. There was so much gunk on them, as well as leaves and twigs. I tried using the vacuum cleaner, not sure if it worked but i will follow you clues and see what happens.

Did everything to test out the heater, it all works fine. All fans are working.

Im just wondering if its the cold weather, it works fine in warm weather and as i said, if i turn of and start up it goes away.

I suppose its one of those strange rangie things.

My P38 gets the cheque book symbol occasionally on these cold Canberra mornings too, and I changed the blend motors over a few months ago, so I think you are on to something about "Rangie weirdness".

Yep ive had the book symbol on extra cold mornings. No other time. What's involved in calibrating the blend motors. Never did it when I fitted new ones. I'm wondering if that and the cold are linked.
