    snorkel

Before i start just let me say that i am sorry that step by step photos could not be done due to the sealant (slikaflex) ending up on everything and the boss refused to take photos or let me touch the camera.

make a cover to guide air in to intake. seal all hole in structure. cut a 76mm hole in y peice of structure located bellow bonnet near passanger door. as you line up snorkel you will see. look inside hole towards the front you will see a peice of plate. look for the spot welds either side of bonnet hinges and cut a peice inbetween of welds. cut out the centres of these peices. weld a peice back over hole and seal. cot a peice of pipe 76mm od and make a cut out to line up with peice of metal inside the structure so it sits up aginst it with the cut out going all the way in about 40mm so there is a good seal with outside structure and aenough room for air to pass. Weld in peice and seal. attach flexi pipie to outside of pipe. Cut end peice of snorkel were air outlet is. place snorkel on and line up wre it works with door and bonnet. mark out bolt hole and cut. attach snorkel to guard leavin a 15mm gap between guard and snorkel (other wise it will faul against bonnet). line up as close a possible to welded in pipe section (will not be straight fit hense flexi pipe). cut hole through guard and snokel. get a peice of 76mm od pipe end with bracket from auto shop place throuh hole and bolt in place. attach flexi pipe and sel both ends. Use peice of plastic that was cut from snorkel to make a flat end for snorkel and seal in place. replace guard and attach bracket for top tp window trim (drill first and cut a self tapper to so it will not touch windscreen). done. I will try and get more photos if i have to pull of guard (no promises). tryed it out and works a1 no leakes. I have noticed that i use about 1.5l/100kms more in consumption and will try to get more flow from welded in pipe section if it starts to get to me.

nice job, i am a bit worried however, about cutting into that channel/beam, as it is the major structual member for the front end. I have seen p38s with cracks in the inner guards, if this part is weakened and cracks too, the front end will fall off. Do you have a photo of the back part where it mates up to the snorkel?

I put steel in and welded to support structure where i took steel out probably stronger than before.
Andrew if you have a car up there with the guard off post it and i shall mark on it were i cut and welded peices in.
I will eventually take guard off again to check everything is still in place and sealed and will post pics in this thread.
Paul as before pm your number if you head down to vic.
    Remy check start of thread.
