    Not that you 2 very smart cookies need any help, but I would like a place to buy competitively priced (read as cheap as possible!):

    - snorkel system;
    - underbody bash plates;
    - light covers (brush guards) front and rear;
    - dog barrier/cargo barrier (again like original accessory);
    - chassis mounted rear swing arm (that doesn't require bumber or light replacement);
    - clear lense kits;
    - those cup holders that clip into the centre console above the stereo!!!

    Not sure about how the rest of the world views it, but I would be wrapped if some enterprising individuals took samples of all these things across to a Chinese trade fair and got some cheap but reasonably hard wearing versions of these made... Where copyright issues impede (like perhaps if copying original brush guards), I am sure you guys would be able to make the necessary style changes to improve the design and still keep things landed and retailed cheaper!

    Assuming all that works out fine, you can put me down as first refusal on the VIC Franchise for HRA!

    Again congrat's and best wishes with the new business!

    Hey there mate!

    If you have been good all year Santa will bring you all the things that are on your wish list ( well thats what my missus tell me )

    I have a similar wishlist for me rangie too. When you have the snorkel fitted what are you going to do about the BECM under the drivers seat? for those deep water crossings?

    Red face NO IDEA!!!

    Hoping the boys coming up with the kit will cover off on that issue!

    Primarily, the aim would be to stop water ingress to cab... reality says old vehicles and rubbers, etc things probably will not be that simple in majority of instances.

    I like the idea of putting it into an air tight case (like air filter box) with a high mounted breather (sort of like a diff breather) or perhaps a connecting breather through to the actual snorkel inlet.

    Or maybe even put some sort of extension leads on it and mounting it higher in the cab (in glove box, or even off the roof in the luggage area).

    engineering, fabricating and re-engineering not my cup of tea though... like I said, hoping Andy and Paul get all that sorted!!!

    In saying all that, I'm always happy to play guinea pig to some degree!!

    BeCM and water

    The subject of BeCM and water has come up quite a few times. I think the real answer is to donate a P38A to a TAFE/Technical College electrical workshop and see what they come up with. Some of the challenges I see with relocating the BeCM, plus EAS, EAT and Transfer Box ECU's (under the passenger seat), plus the SRS ECU (under the cubby box) are:

    1. Gauge of wire(s) to use. These components are sensitive enough already. longer and wrong gauge wire will likely cause signal loss or curruption.
    2. Where to put them? Nowhere up the top of the dash. Foreward roof pod maybe for non-sunroof cars. Rearward roof pod sacrificing headroom for rear passengers or cargo area, affecting rearward visibility.
    3. Maybe could make the box for the BeCM a bit slimmer by separating the power and signal boards and laying them side by side.
    4. ventilation. the BeCM is pretty old technology now. Most mobile phones have more processing capacity these days, even Windows mobiles and the old relays and transistors run warm. Need some sort of positive ventilation if up high and in a box. Perhaps take a feed off the near useless rear footwell vents?.. but in Winter?
    5. If sealed in a box under the seats, it again needs positive ventilation and an exhaust vent/pipe.
    6. Even in a box under the seat there will be several water failure points where cables enter the box... and the box should be easily removed for component maintenance.
    7. if the BeCM is in a box, how to access the fuses at the side?

    Not saying we shouldn't or can't... just that I think a lot of us have been pondering this for some time, and I'm yet to see a working solution.

    Sounds like a challenge to me

    Cheers
    Paul.
