Watching with interest Kelvin you have given me a few ideas for my next project.
Just registered a homemade box trailer today using the self assessment form, single axle with a ATM of 750kgs cost me $108.00 dollars took about 5 min and they didnt even come out and have a look at the trailer.
Longest part was sitting there for 40min waiting to get served![]()

Looking good Weeds!
Thats the 'only' way to do it!
Maybe burn the spring bolt plate on before paint/gal dipping the axle?

er, not sure what you mean
pretty sure i was only supplied two plates should there be a plate either side of the spring?
i thought i would only be drilling a hole into the axle for the spring to locate in it than the plate than four bolts
will a welded plate onto the axle sto pthe axle/spring moving
Good stuff Kelvin.
I see you ended up going the squareIt'll be nice and solid.

In your picture of bits which includes the springs. 4th in from the left just below the AULRO handwarmer are two square plates with a hole in centre. These are to sit between spring pack and axle, the hole allows the spring centre bolt to clear the axle.
I imagine you could drill the axle to clearance for the centre bolt, it would do very little to the overall strength of a 50mm solid axle! But it is more normal to weld that small plate on in position of springs.
The fish plate obviously then goes on other side of spring pack with UBolts to hold it together.

Now where have I seen a 130 tub trailer with a roof top tent etc.
Thats right in my shed!!!!!!!!!
Dont make it too similar hey Weeds
Justin
Do you have a plan drawn up for the chassis. I would be interested in see how it would look, what size material you are using and how the tub attaches.
Cheers, David.
