    4 Door Perentie

    Hi everyone,

I have embarked on a chalenging (for me) mission to convert my perentie 2 door to a 4 door wagon and am having trouble with what to do about the fuel filler. The filler fitting on the fuel tank whick resides under the drivers seat foules on the fouls on the back seat floor well. Has anyone ever done this before or have any advice regarding what I can do to get around this?

    And advice would be appreciated.

Sorry for the spelling mistakes, the text box that I am typing in won't let me see what I am typing What is wrong with this forum these days?

    Cheers

Rar110 has done the same. He would be the best person to talk to.

Before we get to the fuel filler, the Perentie 5 door wagon is designated the "senior commander". Unlike the civilian 5 door wagons, the Perentie senior commander doesn't have the alpine windows above the rear doors. So I would be using the roof of your original 110 hardtop.

Also the Isuzu engined Perentie senior commander has wind up windows on all front doors with the recessed door handles the same as the early 110 models.

Now to the fuel filler, the senior commander uses the same body fittings as the fuel filler on the regular Perentie although fitted to the rear tub behind the "C" pillar. The filler has a pipe plumbed from the filler under the floor to a fitting on the rear of the tank. A tank from a 90 is preferable to the original 110 Perentie tank. You can modify your original tank by removing the top filler, modifying the rear top corner to clear the bodywork of the rear kick panel and moving the filler neck to the rear of the tank below the floor. Your other option is to construct a long range tank, that includes additional capacity under the rear floor and removes the need for the long filler pipe.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

Yes for the tank you need to buy a 90 tank and modify it. I'm doing the same for my Senior Commander as the tank is leaking. On mine the tank vent pipe runs up the B pillar and down again, this essentially allows you to drown the car to some depth without water entering the tank back through the vent pipe. Also as it's a nice size vent pipe, you can fill using the high flow diesel pumps on full speed with no issues.

the vent hose is a roll-over anti syphone pipe.
    wasnt easy to fit.
but cant see any sencible way to do this.

it had a sock clamped on the end but i think a proper filter would be better.

the tank was modified to lower the filler neck and change the angle.

    Hi Inside,

Is it possible for you to elaborate a bit more on where your vent and filler go? How does the vent pipe go up the 'b' pillat? Also where does your filler pipe fun?

I can get some pics but wont be for a few days. It'll be easier that way. If you can wait a bit longer I could actually show you the tank out and what it looks like.

All this depends on how original you want to be. There's other options that would work.

I've done the same thing by converting an FFR to a wagon.

You need to get the rear top section of your fuel tank cut down by about 60 mm to accommodate the 2nd row floor. I was lucky enough to buy a perentie wagon fuel tank. You also need to make sure the tube lines up between the two body/chassis mounts. I used about 42 mm tube instead of the original so it fitted through everywhere.

The perentie breather would work better than mine. My breather goes back to the filler point and so has a low point that fills with fuel. I keep a drink straw in the car and manually blow the fuel out before I refuel. I did try and get some tube bent up but wasn't able to find someone you could bend it as tight as the OEM part.

Also there is a cross section that the tub sits on. I see from Insides pic the army simply cut it so the tube could go through it. I cut mine and fitted a piece of 100 mm tube to ensure the strength of the cross section. I also galled it as it cops quite a bit of dirt etc and tends to rust. This mod has worked very well.

good luck it is a good conversion.
