    DAY 3 & 4

Day 3 & 4 saw the rear pillars welded into place. This was a horrible horrible frustrating pull your hair out job. The top frame box section is so thin that it just blows out before you get penetration.
    But I did it.

Everything is only tacked on at the moment until it gets inspected by the engineer, then I will go grazy with the sikaflex and MIG.

Next I cut the floor off at the right place for the rear panel

Then fixed the rear panel into position.

Once the rear panel was in, I could make up the top brace and creates the "halo" the engineer keeps talking about. It is just 50x25 RHS which we managed to bend to the curve of the roof using Mick's el'cheapo tube bender.

Tomorrow I pick up my 300 litre gas tank. I am starting to regret buying this thing. I think it will be way too heavy and too big.

you will be fine!! where yr tank is probly the strongest part of the chassis you can always weld some plates to the rails if you are stressed.

LOL. I was just about to say that after thinking about it, I cna't see how it would bend your chasis. Even with 300l of gas it should still weigh lonly about 250kg (150kg in gas and 100kg for tank). I think my biggest problem is that I will have to put the tank up on top of the tray. The rear of the cab is not far from the front of the rear wheels so you need all that space for wheel travel.

I am still going to try to see if I can sell the 300l tank and get 2x110litre tanks. This way I can keep the tanks between the chaisis rails.

Nope. The tank has a diameter of 500mm and from the rear of the cab to the centre of the rear wheels is exactly 500mm

Why, what is it on yours?
