Oh - and I stuffed up the way the lid opens - the hinges are on the wrong side - so I'll have to fix that up as well

    Ooops

    As promised:

    Base plate

    All sides routered

    The two rear pieces

    Front piece

    One side routered

    Lid

    Side pieces

I then screwed and glued it all together. Added hinges etc

    All complete

Now need to carpet it all and add a hinge/lock to each storage box - then use it as often as possible

    Cheers
    Chris

Well I had a productive day today. Amongst putting an engine etc back together and doing the lawns, I continued on with this job.

Marine carpet is from Bunnings. Top completed:

I heard of people using contact cement and other assorted stuff to stick their carpet down. I'm giving this stuff a go - came recommended fairly highly - so I hope their right!

Doing the sides. I found it easier to cut it slightly bigger and trim it once it had dried.

Base and one storage box in. The other one is drying.

Plan tomorrow is to finish the other storage box and place it in. I'm also going to cover the front of the drawer and that area.

    Cheers
    Chris

Ok - update from our trip.

The storage areas worked a treat. Absolutely loved them.

The drawer - I personally had no issue. However the wife had a lot of toruble trying to slide it back in loaded up.

SO - if you were going to make this - I'd suggest spending the extra $100 a get a slide.

Other than that it was great and did what we needed.

    Cheers

Top Job Chris , The Draw unit looks really good , Storage Boxes are a great idea and it utilises every inch of space in back of defender for extra storage.
