Hercules: 1986 110 Isuzu 3.9 (4BD1-T)
Brutus: 1969 109 ExMil 2a FFT (loved and lost)
Well, after a coupld days, degreasing and pressurewashing, I've decided the chassis is a reject, to much rust throughout, so its cut in half and on the scrap pile
So now its to the 110" chassis the cab is on, will cut and fill an extra 10"s and build on that, also need to weld in the engine mounts that I've cut off the 120" chassis![]()
Is that 110 chassis a$$ end any good to you?
They are a bastard for distorting when weldedYou will have to come up with a jig of some sort to help with this or it will be all over the place
I have seen them done two ways. I personally don't like how the 120 is done but yours never failed and nor has mine yet touch wood.
I would prefer either the chassis cut split at the corners then cut a U shape and double sleeved with the outer sleeve going to the outrigger. Looks much neater.
The 120 was so crude with straight welds and a sleeve on the lower. But... it worked
I have some pics here of Rover extenda chassis and a jig, if I find them I'll put them up.
If you need some measurements I'll plumb bob mine and chalk it in a concrete floor and run a tape over it.![]()
I didn't want to jig of the old chassis regardless, as it it kinks and bends where it shouldn't already, also patch work quilt where it had been repaired previously, so figured staring from scratch would be the go
My 120" had a box inside the rails, it was plug welded through the chassis, not that it would help much, actually, it has alot to do with the rust, obviously I didn;t find this till I hacked into it, it just looked to have 2 flat plats in each rail, with 2 U shape bits top and bottom, all very crude, the engine mounts were the deciding factor to junk it, the bottom welds are woeful......LR build quality, pfft
Pics would be great Tony, always up for ideas
I've just stripped the other cab off the other chassis, so tomorrow will see me on the pressure washer again, then back to work, so no more progress till the next weekend
Pics stiiiiiiillllll loading![]()
Hmmm, Brake pipes, fuel line and a few wires. Why not make it a 124ish"Extenda cab and extenda chassis
Looking for the pics now... Many files latter![]()
