    More progress on duramax

Been busy on other projects so finally got back on the beast a little bit on and off over the last month. I got the front bonnet stay / support worked out and fitted that. Also gives me something to mount the A/C condesor on but havent got that yet. Got to squeeze a trans cooler in but not quite sure on that due to bull bar winch requirements. Not a lot of room and i dont want to slow air speed for cooling.

    T-Bar set up

Got a Disco 2 transfer case lever for the ute and mounted that. Made up a bracket for the Hi/Low selector but need to do a bit of rework as too short and bit stiff to operate. Not a lot of room between dash and console as i wanted it as far forward as possible to allow as much as room as possible for the T-Bar. Also mounted a disco handbrake to the left of the drivers seat as had welded up the original handbrake hole. Mounted a Disco 2 T-Bar shifter and started on a console out of alloy. Was thinking of a Ashcroft one but as i wanted to relocate the hand brake to it, i had to start from scratch. Got a few more hours to finish it then probably cover with leather so i dont burn my leg due to alloy being such a good conductor of heat. I'll see how it turns out and might even powdercoat it.

Trying to get the interior done so i can get back to sump mods, tailshafts, air intake, exhaust, cooling, wiring and 4 million other jobs

    Cheers,
    Gaz

Good to see you back on this Gaz. You might be able to fit it between cab and tray in the nook behind the back seat.

    Thanks Josh,
Wish i had this thing built! There is a few in QLD that have been installed in Patrols and i'm green with envy. I have bugger all room behind cab and tray so trans cooler wont fit there. I have the room in front of the intercooler but dont want to restrict the air flow too much as i am over cooling issues with cars in the past. I may be able to sit a long trans cooler near winch in the bull bar but got to by winch yet to see how much room i have. I'm at the stage where i've got to spend some dough and buy a winch, Steel for bull bar, drive shafts and heaps of miscellaneous pieces. Wish i was as keen and dedicated as some of the other folks carrying out projects such as Bundalene!!!

    Cheers,
    Gaz

Could you mount it under the bonnet with a jackaroo style vent to suck in cooler air with a puma bonnet style bulge to seat the cooler? Or reverse the vent so it faces the windscreen to get more airflow for the entire engine.

    Very nice conversion so far!

All ready got a puma bonnet for it but not a lot of room between the motor and bonnet due to air intake manifold. I still have to do the air intake from snorkels to air filter and then to turbo yet I think i'll put it out the front but will wait until i get a condensor for it to see how much room is left.

Might be the solution if i cant get it out the front. Not ideal spot if i look at the amount of mud i've hosed out from under my other 130 when using it for work on mine sites when raining.
    Thanks for your help guys

    Cheers
