Bloody hell! They are moving along very quickly.

I think I can do Erich's trip report for him...

We Left Sydney and drove to Darwin refuelling as required. Car ran well. The End

I heard they closed the top track for a ceremony on Friday afternoon, don't know for how long.

    Bloody Quick Alright!!! Three days!!!

They are in Darwin now having dinner with Sharon & Alfred.

And I think you are right about the Trip Report

And yes..a ceremony has closed the top track, but they still wouldn't have taken the risk with the river crossing.

They hopefully will be in Gapuwiyak tomorrow night.

Pretty quick 130. Did Erich replace the TD5 with something else while we weren't watching?
Great to hear they arrived in Darwin with no problems - probably a reflection of attention to detail in the "rebuild" and good workmanship.
    regards

As far as I know, the engine is still a TD5 - mind you, they could have swapped it when I wasn't watching

It's almost 4,000 ks between here & Darwin, so they did well. Erich knows the way up there like the back of his hand, but I reckon they'll want a good rest tomorrow after they get to Gapuwiyak.

Today will be the hardest drive for them and I'll be a very happy wife & mum when I hear that they have arrived safely.

Hope they're taking lots of pics too.

ABC news tonight said Bulman recorded 94mm of rain between 9am and 3pm today

Mind you I think we got at least half of that at the refinery today too.

Thanks for that info. Derek - something I really didn't want to hear at this end of their trip!

And Dale.... No, haven't heard anything yet.

Spent a very anxious and restless night waiting for a phone call.

I was going to head down the coast this morning to spend a few days with my parents, but I won't leave till I hear from Erich that all, hopefully, is OK.

Just heard from Erich and they're all safely in Gapuwiyak....didn't get there till after midnight. That's all I know, and that's all I wanted to know!

Will have a longer talk with him later this morning.

I guess he will write a post from Sharon & Alfred's place.

..So, it's over & out from me.
