Having been treasure of a small Ham Radio Club (70 members), juggling money can be a PITA. (Not mention GST exemptions, audits, etc) Not saying don't do it but we probably want RR to concentrate on the restoration.

I would think if you approached it as:

    • Offers of bits. (There are a lot of sheds with bits a peices, just waiting to be offered - as per Groucho's fine offer)
    • Offers of skill (eg: Welders, Electrickeryests , Body, Paint, Spanner spinners) Surprising what a few coldies and burnt snags can achieve.
    • Logistics - getting all these bits to Tony - aulro courier service?

I would reckon we could help get it repaired without too many $$$ changing hands.

Anyway it's Tony's vehicle and his call - just offering ideas.

So hard I see every ones point of view on this matter. The restoration will work with little funds but the Rego and ongoing cost after that are going to be a real problem. I'd like to see her back on the road and taken by trusted members other than my self show to show so the public can appreciate her.

Back on track of the resto... Its the new parts we need that will be a little costly... Baily channels, seals, Brake parts oil seals etc.

My location will make it hard for any one who wants to help out with the labour side of things.

Once I get these books and some film footage the chassis,Bulk head and doors are first jobs. Just thinking the doors could be couriered to anyone who has the skills to repair them as will be a bit fiddly That will leave me the chassis and bulk head to repair.

I'll make a more accurate list shortly

    Tony

    Another idea.
If you could get a parts supplier onside,ie Rovercraft etc etc.You could give them your wish list for parts needed.Get a total price they will let you have them for.
    Say the bill is $1000.
You could list the invoice number and members could chip in to help cover whats needed by sending money to the supplier, you get the balance owing if any.
Vehicle still remains wholy yours, just a way we get to help you preserve it.
    A couple of other ideas.
A working bee weekend on a long weekend.
Inventory of GOOD secondhand parts you would like.
    GOODLUCK

I'm working on a community shed nearby. I'll fill you all in on this if it works out.
If this all goes sour not sure what I'll do yet I'll keep your idea in mind Shonky One thing for sure is It cant stay here for to long as to much going on in the workplace and sheds here ATM

As posted the trip was OK but a long day. Was going to do a detailed post but never got around to it. A few other things happened along the way

Good the hear your back safely

    Cheers Tony

Anyone think to ask Inc's advice re: setting up donations....he has it for the forum (which he owns). He must know how to organize it and the problems involved. Be good to get some ideas from him.

Ownership should stay with RR as when committees get involved politics soon follows (other people have other ideas). Keep it simple...keep it private, with supporters.

    Nice table cloth!

That book is one of three. The one I have is the condensed version of the three, with a lot less pictures of Land Rovers unfortunately.

You got a good shot of the Logo there Tony, a good sign-writer should be able to replicate it.

I know a bloke at work, who used to work as a cameraman at a couple of TV channels in Melb - I wonder if he can give us a lead. (I'll buy him a coffee!)
