    our landy saved!!

hi everyone and lovers of AYI077! im the OTHER daughter who learnt to drive her and drove in peak hour traffic! Number one: never take your eye off the road as you need to know what is happening well in advance, the steering is NOT sensitive! Number two: careful with the choke on cold days! I remember finishing work at 3AM in the winter and id be the LAST one in the carpark,me and ayi trying to start!Number three: balance that clutch or she'll kick like a horse and you will stall,on that hill,in peak hour traffic!! ha ha dad is responsiblefor her going so well for so long!

THANKYOU FOR GIVING HER HER NEW LEASE OF LIFE! It was a sad day when we dropped her off to the parts place, mum was going to a funeral that day and i remember her saying it was like going to 2 funerals! we had a family photo with AYI, our defender and brand new landy the day we gave her up.Good luck with her restoration,we will be keeping watch give her a pat for me

Hi! And a big welcome to you as well How many more of you are going to pop up out of the woods

You have described the clutch very well.

Just been out to the the old girl this morning and now seems to have a living soul attached. If she could only talk!

With your new user names I'll have to stop referring to the Series 11a as AYI 077 or AYI or we will have some un politically correct confusion occur at some stage.
Just been down to see AYI and well you get the idea
I'll be mindful of this but please forgive me if I miss something

    hi RR,

yeah sorry bout my sister and mines post names...we just got all excited when we'd finally found her and HAD to have her name as we identify all our lives but one year with her!!

we called her the old girl too so its nice she mite feel at home with you
she has many stories including the bonnet story which i think i read you had mentioned...one year, not long after we got her i guess, dad traded the bonnet..he didnt want the wheel clamp thing and the other bloke did so they traded! goodluck finding that! as far as we are concerned the green bonnet just gave her a personality all of her own whenever id pass dad wrangling her through traffic (we worked in the same part of town) id grin at her and her funny look ha ha.

we have told dad about her new life and are hoping he will show an interest but it was a hard day for him when she went and the topic is a happy but sore one for him as you can imagine. its great she isnt on a scrapheap but im sure he would have loved to have restored her himself one day..landies... theyre like tin people to owners

    luck to you

I'll start the ball rolling. Will donate 2 good 109 front outriggers. They came off a S/3 should be the same,
2 inner splash guards. New. If you want 2 LWB rear springs.
May have a 2A grille somewhere.
See if we can organise a pony express from my joint to your place
Anybody else going to kick the can........Mark

    Onya Groucho!

Tony, when you work it out, post up a list of what else you need. I am sure many of us would love to help.
Even if it just transporting or picking up stuff for you.

Well, it's certainly understandable that you didn't choose "The Leyland Brothers' Landy Sisters."

Hang on LBLS1 and LBLS2 would work...

And that would make your new Landy "The Leyland Brothers' Landy Sisters' Landy." I think.
