    D2a Recovery Points?

    My newly aquired D2a came with a fitted from new ARB bullbar (no winch, just holes) but no recovery points (or to my untrained eye no good kangaroo jack locations - not important as I have and prefer an exhaust bag jack).
    Any rcommendations/suggestions/links for some rated recovery points?

    I have a pucka LR towbar (good for banging onto) and a rated Hayman Reece type rear recovery point tongue and shackle, but only the original plastic rear "bumper" if you can call it that.
    A steel rear bar, possibly with access for 2 spares plus side recovery and jack points is definitely on the list. I'd be interested in accessing rear recovery points for both sides, even at the risk of them becoming dedundant in due course.
    All suggestions welcomed.
    (anyone looking for a full/complete, unused D2a front bumper?)

    For the front you can get chassis mounted recovery points, they use the same bolts as your bullbar. I bought mine from 4x4intelligence but I believe they have since closed down.

    For the rear you could look at jate rings that bolt through the same location as the towbar supports onto the chassis down beside the fuel tank.

    I have the front chassis mounted points, will have front swivel mounts on the new bullbar, a tow bar recovery point on the rear and will have swivel mounts on the new rear bar too.

    Personally I will only ever snatch from the chassis or tow bar mounted points for their additional strength and only use the swivel points on the bars for winching where your recovery is more controlled and not likely to rip the bars off etc.

    Also, your factory front recover point should still be on the front passeger side chassis rail, where the bullbar is mounted, this is a rated recovery point.

    There are a heap of places that make front recovery points for the D2, just search google.

    Should be,but have seen a few vehicles where this has been removed when a bar has been fitted,i have no idea why.......

    Where to get recovery points

    Hi guys,

    The products that 4x4 Intelligence had originally belonged to 4x4 Design and Engineering. The 4x4 Intelligence partners decided to shut down 4x4 Intelligence so all products are still avaliable through 4x4 Design and Engineering which was the original company that designed all of the products.

    So the recovery points and lift kits are still available just email them at sales@4x4de.com.au

    Their recovery points are the strongest on the market and have been tested and certified.

    Their web site will be up and running after Christmas as well so stay tuned.

    D2 factory points are not rated and are not safe to recover from.

    D2 factory points are not rated and are not safe to recover from.
    So which is it oh wise ones as I constantly hear conflicting stories on this one. It's not a tie down point thats for sure......so obviously has some purpose. Also for the record have used it as a recovery point on quite a few occasions.

    It is a towing point.. For flat road towing and for pulling the vehicle onto a trayback.


    I have seen many torn apart or fatigued after 1-2 recoveries offroad..

    I'd advise against it as it needs a shackle to attach a strap to it, and being as weak as it is - your mates vehicle is going to cop the impact.

    I agree with Tombie, the Ds have a tie down point and a tow point - not rated recovery points. The tow point is used for towing and at most a tow recovery but not a snatch recovery of heavily bogged heavy vehicles.
