    1955 S1

    Hi all,
This is my 1955 S1. It's an ex fire chiefs car from the Jingellic BFB. I will post some more photos up soon. Needless to say, it's the perfect Sunday car when the weather is warm; subsequently, since I've had it, the canvas roof has never been on.

Andy, the previous owner, enjoyed using in it. His wife not so much.
Good to see it not sitting in mothballs some where.

It a interesting find as it is towards the last build of the 80" Land Rovers, if you look at the door top it hasn't the triangular canvas flap to reach through to open the door with the inside door latch handle. The 1952 build's were factory fitted with the outside handle and the last of the 1953 80" had a recessed outside door handle like the doors on a 86" / 107".

    Cheers Arthur,

I was told its a 1951, however the build number starts with 2 so I'd say its a 52.

Yeah, the doors are one of the only original things on it, unfortunately!

It has a Rover 90 (aka 2.6 F head) 6 cylinder in it, which is pretty well seized! To top it off the chassis /radiator instruments are all modified to fit it.. So big job getting it running again!

    Here are some more pictures!

Rover 90 steering wheel/column, gauges, the fuel tank is mounted behind the centre seat. Heaven knows what else is out of a Rover 90..
