    1957 109 petrol in Victoria

After decades of dreaming of owning an original Series one Land Rover, today I picked up a very original and unmolested example from near Heathcote in Victoria, Australia. In coming days I will take some more detailed photographs.

The vehicle had been advertised with the following description - "This Land Rover has been used on the farm only for checking on sheep ,fences and general use, always kept clean and tidy and driven quietly,it is still in use and goes well, odometer reading is 25236 ,Ideal for a land rover lover,Body number 1446,Serial 109-1446,chassis 123700921.The sale is for pick up only.reason for sale, ready to retire."

The Land Rover will join my much-loved stable of classic cars and motorcycles in northern Victoria. Other vehicles can be seen by clicking here . My intention with this vehicle is to preserve rather than restore it, as its honesty and originality are quite something!

And a fitting addition to what is a lovely collection.

    New Old 1958 88"

Picked up my New old series 1 this weekend. Wrapped to have it have, it's amazing sitting beside the defender how little they are even though there's only 2 inches in it.
Now the process of getting it road worthy starts.

    Landrover on a Pole

    Hello all,
After driving between Adelaide and Melbourne for 31 years, I stopped at Keith, to look at the "Land Rover on a Pole".

Before I had a Land Rover I did not have any torque wrenches. Now I have three.

My Series 1 Land Rovers that I owned back in the early 1970's.

The SWB had the original motor in this photo, but eventually I fitted a Holden 186 into it. This photo was taken in the Parachilna Gorge, Flinders Ranges, on our way to Darwin.
The LWB is pictured here crossing a creek in the Flinders Ranges whilst on our way home from a trip to Alice Springs. At this stage I had already converted it over to a Holden 186. My Honda XL350 is in the back of it.

    Cheers, Mick.

    1956 109 inch ute

    Hi all

Attached is an image of my series 1 ute which I picked up in September 2015. It spent the last 40+ years as a farm vehicle but was kept out of the weather when not in use. The firewall and chassis are in great nick with no major rust issues. It runs and drives and only stops using the handbrake. The body is in OK shape, it's had a couple agricultural repairs but no hideous modifications to deal with, but I will need an education in working with birmabright (help!). The engine was reconditioned at some point by Champion Motors in Currie Street, Adelaide, and I understand that this was the dealer that sold it.

I am in the process of building a shed exclusively for its restoration.

    Cheers
