Hope that is of help to you

    cheers

    G'day Nostromo

Aah! 86 inchers that changes things, as the brown one has a 51/2 grille, should have the same as the green one, Green Vehicle 57660398 is the 397th CKD RHD Export vehicle for 1955 Ch No's start at 7660001

That 177600739 reads as a 1955 engine no for a RHD CKD vehicle with a spread bore 2 ltre motor

Sources 86/88 107/109 master parts book and "Landrover 1948-1983 leafsprung models" by James Taylor.

    G'day Nostromo

I have re-read my Master parts book and there are indeed 2 sets of chassis number sequences for 1955 model with the commencing numbers as follows: 57660001 eight digit number, and 177600001 nine digit number.

So your green one is 397th RHD Export CKD in the 8 digit range

    and

Your brown one is the 738th RHD Export CKD in the 9 digit range fitted with body No 109

I have no dates for the sequence change

source: master parts book-- TP155c June 1956

    Both vehicles were CKD units

    cheers
