Project complete
Both tanks in hooked up and working yet to be filled. It worked out very well the tanks are clamped in place by the bracket mounted on the spring hanger and a strap from the outer front tub bolts. I decide not to weld the tank to the brackets as this may have caused a crak later on with chassis flex. Now everything can move a bit . I will fill them up tomorrow in daylight and keep an eye on them for any leaks. should be ok as we pressure tested everything. Now to fit modify and fit the overdrive . and build the canopy.

96 Litres
New tanks hold 96 litres filled to the brim no leaks . Everything works as designed very happy with this. I pinched most of the ideas from Mulgo and the dual tank set up John B and I bought from him for our 90 Defenders.

Fuel tanks
Hi
on a good day you would be able to go across town down hill from one fuel station to another
just kidding, looks good, far better than have 2 or 3 Jerry cans banging around in the tub
cheers

OOPsy
Good thing I putr shut off valves on each tank as it keeps syphoning after the pumps shut down when the rear tanks are full and filling up the mainn tank. :o This should stop once the tanks are below half ful. Good side just turn on pump for a few seconds and its all automatic.:)

Running rough
Borumbah started to run a little rough and blow a bit of white smoke at start up and under acceleration from idle. The spark plugs were showing she was running rich.
So we puled the carby off and cleaned all the jets gave it a blow out and put it back. Well it ran worse than before hmmmm played around with everything correct jets in the correct holes everything clean but running rich and hunting a bit.
Eventually we gave up and fitted a new spare carby. Now runs beautiful so quite I cant hear it,so low revs the red lights coming on for the generator . The old carby had new needle and seat and was in pretty good nick so I am a bit lost as to what it could be. The diaphragms in the pump looked good and it has obviously been overhauled recently. It was only running rough on idle .\

Biting the bullet
After Wrinkelarthurs description of valve guides turning into diamonds I have decided to pull mine out. She's been blowing a bit of smoke after sitting at the lights and on overrun. I have ordered a Gasket set from Gary at CLR tonight and will pull the head off as soon as it arrives. This will give me a good look at the bore and see if I need to go any further.
