    Old series 1s - seen in my recent travels

    as the title says...
    here are two series 1's seen recently near me.

    This first one had a holden motor apparently and was last used during a safe robbery but the baddies got caught!

    CALVIN says 48/49 (not that much is left )




    VEHICLE 2
    This one belongs to a family near here, the fuel tank is "cactus" and it's missing the glass etc from windscreen.
    It runs (well) when fed via hose sticking out of seat box (disconnected from tank and used to feed motor!)

    Theyre looking for a tank. (will any 80" tank fit? Does anyone have one??

    It has been in her family since new, and they are on a farm, and intend using it with the kids around the property , I'm trying to convince them a non syncro s1 swapped with a s3 109 6 cyl 109 wagon (with roof spinner) would be a good swap.. As said though they are good people.

    Radiator date plate is 6/50, CALVIN (see above) says 1950.

    unable to locate any numbers/ ID plates to give me the numbers I crave!


    note the tyre holder on bonnett? should be on back of "seat wall"(ok front of tub )


    spare diff on tray?
    spare bumper too?









    as you can see it has had a tree branch fall on it but no apparent damage

    I can't see any hole in the end of the rolled section of the top of the firewall inside, that makes the firewall out of a 1954 86" .

    The chassis number for that one, would be about where that stay is welded on the left hand side, on the top of the dumb iron under the radiator support panel hole.

    Semi floating axles, no hole for the dip switch in the floor, 'D' tail lights and aluminium radiator support panel, all match that year.

    grave yard??

    this is a private blockies gear..
    2nd is on a farm
    3rd belongs to a local contractor (he has a 2nd I believe)

    as for the bloke with the beard, he is terribly attractive, looks like my twin!

    Calvin says its 48/49 (hope thats better) tried for second opinion buy Hobbes was busy!

    The 50, Its a ripper isnt it.. trying hard to convince him a series 3 lwb hardtop would be better... (eg a 109 (unnamed) '75)

    Im angling to get the 86... I dont have an 86....

    I think I know someone who has a good 2.25 and g/box etc from a 2a that I may be able to get... (or a 200tdi... is it only the deefer one that fits or can the disco one slide in..I think the alternator is in the wrong spot?? )


    maybe if I load it on a trailer and do what I did with the first series I got...

    I think it would be a 48 built in early 49 with that build number.
    My excuse always was it would have been wrong of me not to get it.

    Numbers

    To make it really simple, If it only has one "6" it is 48 model ie: 861692 and my have been built in 1949 but if it has two "6s" then it is 49 model and was built in 1949 eg: 8664985.

    Note 1948 models have 1948 land rover on the plate.
