Thread: Tiny bit excited

1 LR logo was painted just needed some sanding to bring out the bright alum lettering

2 grille and LR logo fitted to the rad support panel

3 went to bunnings and bought more timber and made up the 3rd and final seat base, waiting on hessian jute webbing to arrive from ebay

4 went to clark rubber and bought some grommets fitted in this shot, not sure it was to be an open grommet or closed, will see later when wiring done

5 steering column support which was painted was fitted, not the best support panel some damage to right side but when i find another will replace with a better version, but keeps the rebuild progressing

1 - painted the remainder of the underside of the tray/tub and have temp fitted into place, had to drop the fuel tank to do up two bolts to the chassis on d/side but finally managed to wedge it in, prob easier without the seat base fitted but you learn as you go. undid the fuel tank bottom drain bolt from a spare tank and fitted that onto the main tank, removed sanded and painted alternator bracket and refitted. tub needs a good rub down and then paint, just speeding up the process as i am running out of time as when we move into our new house (Aug) sadly LR work will prob cease.

The tubs make good storage racks when not being used. Every time I want to take Landy for a run takes me 1/2 hr to empty the tub & put every thing away were it belongs.
Know what you mean about shifting house , my daughter & husband moved house back in November , I have been there almost every day since then doing things for them. Other daughter keeps asking when it is their turn.

Yep know the feeling. This is our 2nd new build and have a million ideas of finishing off the house which will all take time and priority over the LR.

Seat base webbing arrived Hessian Jute Webbing on ebay 20m just covered the 3 seat bases, stapled off with a staple gun. Foam from clark rubber were $53 per seat off my measurements so on the look out for some throw out couches and will remove the seat bases and then use the foam from them for free. Happy with the look and clearance between seat base and base of alum frame to get fingers in to remove the seats.

Not wanting to criticise but isnt there supposed to be a gap between each of the straps so it flexes when u sit on it?

Fair point on the webbing, not sure of the need for a gap, i had nothing to compare making up a new one as the vehicle came with no seats at all. time will tell i suppose if i experience problems with the seating. i have to source some seat tops as i think they are made of steel.

1 - seat top brackets i had, did some sanding to realise i only had set of 5 missing 1, later took off another from my spare collection to make 6

2 - spare set of 6 found in my collection of bits were in better condition, so cleaned up painted waiting to dry before fitting

You have to lift slightly and then pull the seat forward, normally done using the leather strap at the front of the seat. There should be a block under the front edge of the seatbase in the centre that sits up against a bracket spot welded to the seatbox. This stops the seat base sliding forward when you stop.

1 rear tub gal bits taken off with screwdriver and hammer and then drilled ready for more cleaning, sanding and painting

2 one of the angled front pieces was in not the best condition so went looking for another, and lucky for me found another

3 in my collection found this piece somewhat diff to my tub but had the piece i was looking for, got lucky

4 exposed tops needs cleaning and sanding

5 previous painted seat backs, they look like they have been galvanised, the paint is perfect (to me anyway) wrapped

6 rear panel with all bits stripped for now
