    update

1 - all bits n pieces sanded and ready for paint, some were painted but for some strange reason the paint looked flat, so light sand and re paint is in order

2 - the seat base seems to need much more work so still at it, removing crap from underneath and looking at supporting the integrity of the structure with some new alum cube or angled depending on what i have in the shed, wish i could find a replacement so much easier

    big find, silly me

1 look what i already had when i got my LR with bunch of spares, cant believe i wasted time on the crappy seat base when a much better version was available, so now i have 3. just had to go and have a look at my collection, amazing what you find

2 old one i had repaired a hole by welding and found this one in better condition

3 side by side, both sanded but one is in better condition

4 blanking plate, old one and newer one, either one can be used

5 side by side, old and newer version, will use the better ones obviously, decided to paint black and use these ones as underside is black anyway and makes a feature against the green colour at front, will see how it looks when fitted can always change back to green

6 underside of newer seat base sanded and painted

7 other side of seat base painted

8 took ages but removed extra locks for storage lids so will clean up and use the better ones

    seat base

1- underside of seat base cleaned and painted in black, pretty happy with my new attempt and newer seat base. just needs a lick of paint on outside when ready, outside needs sanding but its in very good condition, put the older seat base away for now. The 3rd seat base is only good for scrap alum, i will take what i can off it and store for now

    Hi Shamirj,

Thanks for the thread - I'm watching this with interest. How do you manage to fit all of the work in? Are you retired or just don't need much sleep!?!?

    update

To answer your Qs, I am not retired I wish I was though. I do need my sleep and do work f/time but manage to fit this in somehow. Also waiting on the build to finish on our brand new home (cant wait).

1 seat base cleaned up, sanded ready for paint

2 found this in good condition, outside view lightly sanded ready for paint

3 inside view, sanded ready for paint

4 painted in black for underside, top will be green as the rest of the build

5 seat base partly painted in green, allowed to dry for now.

Did a purchase over on ebay for some LR parts, will reveal as it comes through. Im avoiding the heavy ugly work and concentrating on the easier stuff for now. Lets see how we go...

    bit more done

1 door sill unpainted in a poor state, needed sanding and painting
2 corner bracket for door sill painted in silver ready for assembly
3 door sill painted in silver, both sides completed, just drying prior to assemby
4 under-dash bracket with smaller bracket installed prior to fitting, the green with silver bolts really does look good
    5 other side completed.

in pic 4 underside dash panel, one big hole (on right side) is the starter button which i will have to source new, but whats the other big hole for (next to it) ?
