Mine is red at the top. But note that yours should have been positive earth, so that the red one would have been earthed. If the polarity has been changed, as is commonplace with most positive earth vehicles today, the black one should be earthed. Worth remembering that this socket is unpolarise - so you can plug things in reverse polarity, and a lot of modern devices will take exception to this. Also note, that it is intended for a six watt trouble lamp, and while it will easily supply perhaps 50W without issues, it is unfused. Or more accurately, your wiring harness is the fuse.
2. my instrument panel as is, slowly starting to fill up the holes
3. front view of new ignition, cant seem to undo where the key barrel enters, it turns not sure why its there as i have a new key and barrel to suit but how do i remove this 'on' rotating switch in the centre of the ignition
Can't help - that is a military switch. Someone hopefully has more information.
4. rear view of ignition, i think there is supposed to be a spring clip which holds the ignition into position with the panel, i never had one with this vehicle so not sure
Yes. Not listed as a separate part, if you can't find a sppring (anyone?) you will have to improvise something - perhaps a hose clip.
5. have a white push pull switch, again not sure why its white may paint black, does this light up the instrument lights for night driving and probably in the wrong position needs to move up one hole, i think i have an extra hole here
Yes to all of that. Should be in the top hole, the other one is for a fuel warning light on diesels. Should be fairly easy to find a black one - and the knob should be a little smaller than that one. Try an older auto-electrician, possibly Repco. Used to be a very common automotive type switch.
6. need to look up the 6 way connector and where its located in the vehicle and got the new brake switch as well, might test my old one before fitting this new unit into position
Bearmach concluded they have supplied me with the wrong intermediate exhaust and will be refunded, thank you Bearmach.
