    HHHHHHHHHHHHHMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Freakin series landrovers i tell ya a toyota or nissan is starting to look good ..

Put the front suspension in today .. What a cock up i tell ya..

Got the Ubolts yesdy for the front Now there in..It doesnt look very safe to me..

Now to the springs even with the V8 in it they didnt move at all when i droped it back on the ground , I even jacked it up a few times to drop it quick & bounce the ****box..

These are the shackles when i put it back on the ground & bounced it ..& NO THERE NOT TIGHTENED YET ALL STILL LOOSE..

Drive shaft is at full stretch ..

I seem to have lost that pic GGGGGGRRRRRRR

The car now , you can see it sits high at the front..

The bloody shocks wouldnt even stretch to reach. Will have to jack up each side & put em on & will have to do the same when i get some longer Ubolts..

I seriously think its time to change my suplyier they are starting to get so bad with parts its not funny.Karen went upto them yesdy to pick up the springs & the new guy spoke & treated her like a peace of **** then she had to go back to get the Ubolts later ....NOT ****ING HAPPY JAN.

The engine & gearbox is looking like a good swap into Harry at this point..Usualy Karen helps work on the cars as we do it together but she doesnt anymore & im getting real sic of doing everything meself so a toyota or nissan would suit me right now..

    I feel for you, mate.

    It can be really frustrating.
I'm learning as I go with my restorations but, fortunately, I have never worked on any other type of vehicle to compare it with.

On an Army 2a 88" restoration I'm doing I'm swapping the spring shackles from civilian back to military ones. I had the front end jacked up with everything hanging down. When I undid the front right shackle the spring jumped right back up the the chassis. I had to put a jack between the chassis and the spring to get the distance to fit the shackle.
I think it had to be the spring pack being locked into a high curve by rust and heavy wear steps.
Is it possible that your springs are to tight together?

Also, my knuckle got skinned by a sharp landy bit today- right at the start of a job too.

Na the spring packs all looked good ..I dont mind the hight but i have to sort out the rear ones to match em..Its just the rear springs are'nt heavy enough as such.Military shackles will sort it but im guessing the front will settle down after awhile ..

OK well i think i must be the biggest gullable dick around fairdinkum..Its not what im doing thats giving me the problems with the suspension.See being a pensioner i always go for the cheapest options if i have to buy anything otherwise i just make it myself..
So i went out today & looked at the front springs again & the clamps that i bent over i loosened just to be sure cause Korg sugested they maybe tight..didnt do anything..

Heres the pic of the front drive shaft i said about.. I think its been instaled the wrong way round to ..I always fit them with the shortest end to the Transfercase ..Easy fix tho..

OK now here some pics i took of the front spring shackles on all 3 of me landys..

    this is the wagon

    This is the green one

    this is Harry

Notice they are all the same straight up & down..Now the green one has been on the road for 4 years this November & it has the same springs as the wagon & Harry. So im guess the only suspension i have on the green one is the TYRES cause those springs have'nt moved in 4 years..

Now these pics are of the rear springs that i put on the wagon just the other day & again they all have the same springs..Theres bugga all arch in them at all & there BRANDNEW..

So again its my fault for buying the bloody same as what i put on the green one knowing that i hate the look of the sit of the car & all the trouble with them..So now that i'm down all the money for the suspension i just brought & fitted to the wagon I am now going to have to find some others as its obviously just the springs i've been using..

Ok anyone got any ideas what i should be getting or any advise guys IM LISTENING..

The green one still sits down at the rear after 4 years & it has MILITARY shackles fitted to the rear.GGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRR

The way i feel now I"D swap all the bloody landys for anything at the moment ..

I cant get my money back for what i just brought & fitted as i have already fitted & had to bend the front clips on the front springs..So im back to square one & need all 4 springs ..WHAT DO I DO ????????...

Oh yeah the front shackles on Harry are leening forward at the bottom GGGGGGRRRRRRRRRR

Also does anyone know if the 6 cyl civi prop shafts are the same size as the military 6 cyl ones..Cause when i fitted the ones in Harry there about an inch short so thats driving me insane aswell..

    Hi Banjo,
Have you not thought about getting your springs re tempered and set correctly rather than replacing them ??

I fitted new springs and I thought they were dreadful I then got the originals rebuilt and I must say they work perfect now and the vehicle sits level.I am going to get the rears done again though just to get an extra 25mm height for carrying a full load.
