The 2A that i'm looking at

This is the Landy I'm looking at, see newbie series 2A thread for more info,
can get it for a grand, unregistered, needs carby kit, brakes and battery. What do you think, worth the money? I know you can't tell from a photo but, if all is as said?
    cheers
    George

If the chassis is in salvageble condition the it would certainly be worth the look. Check the rear crossmember, front of rear spring hangers and the bulkhead outriggers and if they're ok then go for it. A grand isn't too bad for todays prices cause they can go for more somehow, try to get him down to $800 and it'll be a bit better. Don't forget to check the bulkhead itself for rust.

well unfortunatly, it didn't work out for me, series 3 GT thanks for the advice, the chasis needed a lot of work, rust problems, would also need to replace crossmembers, springs looked like they had been in salt water, and a whole lot of mud that i couln't see under, i felt better to go home empty handed then spend the number of lonely nights it would take to resto this one.

    cheers

Well it's better to not spend $1000 on a rusted out landy then to spend $1000 on a rusted out landy. Keep looking you'll find one that suits you down the track just make sure it's the one you want. What are you after an 88" or a 109", Wagon or ute, petrol or diesel, standard engine or converted engine. So many choices but if you go through each one and tick the boxes and you find the one you want then go looking for the right one. Remember to look in all those common rust areas.

guess I'm partial to somthing like the 58 SWB,petrol motor, like this one in bathurst, looks good but 4-5 hours each way, fuel and trailer hire, makes it a bit expensive for me as a starter for a project. I'm old enough to not jump at the first thing i see, but young enough to feel enthusiastic about all i see.

    cheers
