Two piles, smaller pile is for just blasting as that pile will be hand sanded and then sent to the galvanisers, the other pile will be wet blasted and lightly primed then sent to "Harry @ series rescue" who will do his magic on the panels. The transmission will also be ready at some point next week!

The galv bits that have paint on them it is best to remove the paint with paint stripper as if you blast them the galv finish will be different to the non blasted items You will need to remove all the paint because any paint that does not come off in the pickle will come out as black ungalv marks on the finished product.

Totally get what your saying, but its a bit too late, that were blasted on Friday afternoon! I spoke to a Galv shop and they said to blast them and then to lightly hand sand them with 80 grit paper, they will dip them in some sort of chemical prior to putting them through the Galv plant. They'll hopefully turn out ok, I'll post some pictures once completed.

    Windscreen frame

Re the bits going to be galvanised, was it relatively easy to remove the glass from the windscreen surround (and does it look like it will not be too hard to re-install)?
    Cheers

    Hi Angus,

Just a matter of unscrewing the screws that hold the retainer strips in place, easy job!

Got all the Gal back and boy does it look good, should also be able to pick the body up this week as well, this will be going to Series rescue for some love.

I'll post some pictures of the Gal when I get to work, rebuilt the hand brake lever assembly last weekend and some other bits and bobs, starting to take shape!

When my brother & I had our steel & aluminum fabrication business we used National Galvanizes exclusively , the only time we went else were was when the job war too large for there pots. We were sending a 8Ton truck load of steel there every day even up to 6 times a day. We had very little problem with there work which could not be said fore the other galvanizes in Brisbane. I am still deciding weather to send my capping's for re galv . The galv is still good but has lost its shine .

That's what Brasso is for - and anyway, it isn't meant to shine!

From what they told me the shine will go quite quickly, which is what I wanted anyway.
