Un fortunately we will not be going in to work today, have to go on a road trip to pick the wife's new car up!
The lad was really disappointed so normal play will continue tomorrow!
OK I have missed all this. I am the REMLR treasurer. I need to read further.

Just rubbed the paint/surface rust from the chassis to try and find the chassis number, the best I can come up with is 24306424!
Any ideas of the age and if it is a series 2 or 2a?
Thanks in advance.
If there is no letter after the numbers it is a Series 2.

What year do you think it is John?
I tried putting the number into Calvin, and it says it is not a valid number. Looking at the information I have on numbers, it looks as if it should have a suffix letter, I'm guessing A from the number. Have another try to find a suffix letter.
The first three digits, 243, indicate a Series 2a 88", export, RHD, CKD. It would be the 6424th such vehicle, which I am guessing will be somewhere 62-63. The A suffix was used from Late 61 to mid 63.

Back into it!
Great morning, did what we wanted to do and that was get it down to the bare chassis, the only thing we didn't attempt was taking the steering box thingy off.
I'll do a search on the best way to remove the steering box thingy and have a look in the workshop manual, once that's off it will be blasted and sent off for repair!
Heres some pictures.

Try "the restoration of wombat" page 32.series 1
It's called a steering relayGreat job
