Thanks for the link to calVIN. I used it to check on my 109 wagon with its 6 cylinder engine (Landrover not Holden). Lotz A Landies - you mentioned there are other sources for info that I would be keen to check as mine is cream but there is some red paint under the bonnet which seems a bit strange. The chassis number is 34702928D if you have any info. Thanks

    # 34702928D SIIa 109 Hard Top 6 Cylinder. Engine: 34504436B, Ign Key 891 Door Keys 646 and 911, sent to dealer Woodward & Purkiss, (either 3, 7 or 9) 11/68.

will check where Woodward & Purkiss may have been when I get home.

Could a previous owner have fitted a bonnet off a P.M.G. (Telstra) or Fire Brigade Landy before you got it?

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

My records can only place it as being a RHD Export CKD to Australia (completely knocked down) which would have been reassembled at PMC (Pressed Metal Corp.)at Enfield NSW,then it would have been shipped to the State Distributor hence on to the dealer, with a chassis no of 34703636D it would be the 3635th chassis in the "D" suffix

    hope that is of help

    cheers

Hello, just wondering whether I could possibly throw my chassis number in here as well for any further info? It is chassis number: 34708368G

I got the basics of CalVin, but I am hoping to find out a bit more about its history.

    Many thanks in advance.

Thanks LAL. The red paint is just on the top of the radiator and front panel so is probably just someone's idea of OH&S - ie. Careful this might be hot! But there is also bits of red on the front grille? See picture. I also found out that Woodward & Purkiss used to be a dealer in Armidale (where I live) and I bought it in Inverell (100km away). They originally sold buggies in the late 1800s and shut down in 1972.

Sorry FM97, I seem to have hijacked your thread

    G'day Orkney 90

Well, that's a late chassis suffix, "G" all I have is that it is the 8,367th of the "G" series produced,it too, would have been a CKD kit assembled at Pressed Metal Corporation at Enfield NSW,then on to the dealer network, like Parnel Motors at Arncliffe.

    cheers

No need to apologise, the more we can learn about our Landies's the better

Unfortunately #34708368G was not originally delivered in NSW.

It was likely part of PMC (1970) batch 26, 109" 6cyl hard tops.

I can tell you that #34708371G to was delivered on 27/8/70.

Thank you Lotz-A-Landies. At least I can now pin it down to a 1970 model. It came with what I suspect is the original Victorian number plate, which would explain why it wasn't originally delivered in NSW. The old Victorian number plate is a heavy thick affair, white letters / numbers on a black background. Could possibly have been enamel originally, but quite faded now.
