I put the replacement bumper on a couple of weeks ago.

I noticed on my little drive that the speedo wasn't working so I checked the speedo end & the cable was intact, but was broken at the transfer end.

Got a new cable, whacked it in, drove in a forward direction & still no speedo.......bugger.

I pulled the speedo end off & the cable was ok so I decided to pull the speedo out of the dash.

Turns out the mechanism was seized & yes I'd broken the cable at the transfer end again.

I pulled the speedo apart & started applying some lube to the moving bits & eventually got it spinning freely again.

So while it was out I decided to paint the surround as it was just the crappy green colour.

Can't do one without the other.

    So it's gone from this:

    To this:

Got a nice red knob now too

I've decided to put a brake booster on Matilda & am struggling with the location of the booster.

When I did the one on DaOot it fit in nicely on the driver's side under the guard but DaOot's guard was already chopped.

I don't particularly want to butcher Matilda's guard.

So I was wondering if anyone can see any issues with locating it somewhere in this vicinity, other than not being able to fit an original type air cleaner.

Otherwise I can put it under the passenger side guard & run longer lines across the firewall.

    Any other suggestions are welcome

    Thanks

When I had one of them in my Series 2 over fifty years ago, I put it in the LH guard. Never gave any problems, and was easy to fit and bleed.

Thanks John. I think I've decided to put it in the passenger guard.

    What a tops Father's Day.

Had TGC giving me a hand.

Got the petrol tank back in after a little red-Kote refurb from the Ho Hars.

Redid all of the fuel line.

and installed the brake booster under the passenger guard.

I'll need to get some brake lines made up but things are ticking along nicley

Did the fuel pump gasket too.

    It is new.

    Got it from ebay

It's a VH44 remote brake booster for future reference

When we bought Matilda she came with the usual rusted out door tops, so I've been on the lookout since.

These popped up the other day so I snapped them up.

I'm really keen on the sliding glass, the anti-burst locks & the big door pocket for storage.

I'm not sure however if I should use the entire door or just the door tops & move the locks & door pockets.

I'm leaning towards using the old doors....I think

Agree use old doors and dont forget the door strikers are different for antiburst locks.
