Slowly making progress... had the injectors serviced which included honing the nozzle assembly and resetting the pop pressure. I also played with the pump timing as it was running still a bit 'rich' and at times like a miss-fire. Moved the pump to a more retarded position and it made it worse, so moved again to a more advanced position (above that of the original setting) and now it runs like a sewing machine.

However, I now noticed that the water pump bearing is starting to make a noise, so looks like ill be needed to replace that at some stage.

Back end almost done. The rear door (top) has cracks in the corners, no doubt with stress fatigue over time. Having this welded up, so I am hoping that this will effectively conclude the back. Next up is putting front wings on and bonnet.

I havent replaced the seals that run under the top sides (that meet with the tub). This is because I dont intend to run as a wagon post registration. I most likely run a ute configuration and eventually get a canvas top (where budget permits!)

My aim is to complete the build before the two year mark, which I think ill make. Yes its not a resto as im leaving the cosmetics as they are. In future ill see if I go with the bare allow look

Thought you may like to see this. A mate of mine is doing this S2 Diesel , it is coming together rather well I think. The red leather on the seats he had left over from his Rover P3 when he restored it & had a hide left over so thought he would use it in the S2.It is a low mileage vehicle with no rust , the engine was not running when he bought it but had the injector pump overhauled recently & is now ticking over like a clock. He is going in to have a knee replacement done in the next couple of weeks so that will put back the rebuild a bit.

    Interesting, & looks good.Is it a Series 2 or 2a? The filter arrangement looks like a 2a.

Well, its now looking like a complete 2a again! I bolted on the wings and bonnet, and would you believe (its hard to!) that I wired up the indicators and park lights and they worked first go!

So now I have a few bits to complete... rear tailgate getting fixed up to repair the cracks, awaiting shocks to arrive and need exhaust and door seals. Im sure theres extra bits I cant think of, but basically im 90% there.

Its been two years since I got her, and it was a strange feeling seeing it complete again after so long.
