FYI, we bought ours from S&S Industries in Midvale, WA, for around $70 per litre (acrylic).

Paint code for Limestone is indeed 007. Makes it sound very adventurous.

Our original duco on the Series III is baby poo yellow, also known as Sahara or Bahama Gold (depending on the year and the shade) with a white roof - not Limestone. We're sticking with the white roof and changing the body to Limestone.

S&S is a manufacturer - I was amazed to learn, since I thought we didn't do manufacturing anymore here - and the service was absolutely first class. Would certainly recommend them.

    Cheers.

    IIA Colours

    Hey folks,

I've been thinking of painting my 1965 88 for about ten years. Naturally I don't want to rush anything, so it's early days yet...but I have started thinking about colours. The vehicle was originally Bronze Green (long before I got her) and I am thinking of going back to that or perhaps Limestone. Does anybody know where I might find some information, charts, schemes etc on original colours? I would just like to get the old girl looking more original, though I am by no means obsessively restoring her (that would mean getting rid of all the home-made wiring I installed in 1991......).

    Any pointers?

    Cheerio!

On that chart some of the colours appear very different to reality. Particularly what I know to be Bahama Gold.

    Try this:

Land Rover Paint Man | Paint for Land Rovers | Specialist in White Spirit Based, Synthetic & Zylene Based Enamels - Colour Chart Series 2

Unfortunately, it doesn't have Bahama Gold on the chart.

OTOH, I just bought a new monitor for our graphic arts people. It cost $6000 to get a 30" monitor with colour correction capability, and I suspect that you're going to need that sort of sophistication to see colours properly on a screen anyway.

Me - I stick to Colorbond Rivergum, it goes with everything

    Thanks Peter,

That's a nifty little site. I spent hours changing the colour of that Land Rover.....

Yeah, I am trying to decide between Bronze Green or Limestone or Ivory. I noticed that ivory was not on the list: it was a IIA colour, wasn't it? Also the pic had what seemed like a white roof and wheels..... I thought they were limestone out of the factory? Does anybody know where I could see some pics of the original schemes so I know how to paint her when the time comes?

Trouble is, they all look good. I am just going to have to get more Land Rovers....

So should my 6-cyl IIA be Limestone or Sandstone? I was thinking of getting paint made up to match the inside and, therefore, an unfaded panel.

Mine has been repainted light grey on the outside at some time in its past life.

From my memory, almost all four cylinder 2as sold in Australia were grey, and almost all sixes were sandstone. However, despite that I owned a 1961 2a (diesel) in the mid sixties that was white (not limestone or ivory) from the factory.
