I am sure that I did see a 6 cyl which was painted grey by the OEM, it had the Clayton-Dewandre in-line brake booster so must have been very early for a 6 probably 1967 and may have been an import.

Otherwise it would have followed the Pressed Metals Corp philosophy (based on Henry Ford's model T one - "you can have any colour you want as long as it's black") of you can have your Land Rover in the colour we make it, 88" bronze green, 109" grey and 6 cyl Sandstone. If you want a roof it will be limestone.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

does anyone know the paint code for limestone, sand and mid Grey?

thinking about the paint that will go on ours......would like to use the colour around at the time but not sure I want to use the colour for the specific year or length of wheel base.

So was thinking possibly limestone body with a sand tray.....but when rereading through this it was mentioned that limestone was a baby poo colour so now not so sure.
So was then thinking mid Grey limestone roof with a black tray!

    what are your thoughts?

anyone got pics of the various colours on there actual cars...to help me visualize.

And before anyone asks the tray has to be painted as it was painted to match the colour of the car which is currently like a funny light lilac/purple.

I would prefer not to paint the tray the same colour as the car.....unless someone thinks i'm being really silly

    Hi Lou,
Here are the Land Rover codes:
    none metallic colour

Any competent paint supplier should be able to mix up to the British Standards. There is a company "Triken Paints" at Caringbah who have mixed up paints for a few of the LR restorers.

Great project you are starting on!

    Regards,
    Bob

Thanks for that link Bob. I am picking up Gus' paint this week!

Going with Light/Pastel Green (LRC.005) with Limestone (LRC.007) hardtop and wheels.

    Should look like this:

Funny you should say that - I saw a colour swatch and thought "**** I hope it doesn't look like coops!"

I will be getting the shop to mix a small amount first so I can see it made up first! It should be a more a light green than the bluey greeny poufe soufle yours is!

    Still looks cool but.

I can let you know right now Lou.

    Prices are on the web.

    VG Auto Paints

However... I went in last night and they were unable to interpret any of the paint codes I gave them. A search by name came up with Limestone but only in two-pack, and no sign of Pastel Green.

Does anyone have the Australian Standard Paint Codes for these colours? (A long shot - I know...)

A light, mid grey should be easy to find and may even be a group 1 or 2 colour so may well be cheaper.

Looking at the colours used for 2as, it might be interesting to note that the 1961 Series 2a I owned from 1966-69 was white (not limestone) with a grey steel trayback. And I am certain it was the original colour. I bought it in Alice Springs, and I was the second owner.

    I am having paint troubles.

The paint shop I was going to use cannot for the life of them find the colours on their magic computer. I even rang the shop that Bob referred to and they called me back with the codes but they still can't find it!

I guess I will just have to go all the way to Miranda to buy my paint.

The paint codes according to Triken Paints at Miranda (their Caringbah building is a warehouse) are 007/NCJ for Limestone and 6-070 for Pastel Green (aka Light Green)
