Hi All
Tjwa did you mean the maxidrive type diff![]()
I know what you mean from other forums about deleted posts but look on the bright side no ones dead
Anyway thanks for the info
Regards Mark
Hi all, my last thread I put up on this matter was deleted without me being informed, I guess because I mentioned a retailers name? It was clearly not advertising, as I'm making no profit whatsoever, I just wanted to help out the fellow members here who have helped me so much by telling them that bolt diff locks will be available again if enough people are interested.
Want any more details? Ask the moderator of this forum, she would have read the details when she deleted my post.
It looks as though the subscription I paid for here has not even given me the right to be contacted when a post "may" be breaching the rules so I have the chance to edit it before it is deleted.![]()

Well thats bloody irritating
Is it the same company as made them before?
i found the other thread(s).
and have undeleted two of them
you posted the same thing three times in two areas
firstly @ 8:24
then 8:31
then 8:32
and the mod deleted them as duplicates, not because they mentioned anyone, which is why you didnt get a message saying you had been naughty.
but it seems they deleted all three in stead of leaving the two in different areas more by miscalculation i would imagine.
i will have a word with them
might have been more appropriate to ask a mod what happened to them so it could have been sorted out properly instead of jumping to conclusions.
any way your original two non duplicate posts have been reinstated...

Found the other thread in remlr, odd since they didn't have them on military vehicles afaik, but where's the actual details?
Who and how much?
Thanks for the explanation Incisor, I see what happened now. I realise the other posts directing to the original post were not really a good idea and it would have been a good idea to ask a mod what had happened. I had put the other posts in the 2/2A and REMLR forum as I though it would apply to thse members as well. Fair enough.![]()
Ok, now for the good bit.
As you all know the infamous McNamara Bolt Diff Lock, a manual diff lock that had a bolt you twisted on the drivers side rear hub to activate, is no longer available and are as scarce as hens teeth second hand (I've dreamed of owning one for my Rover rear diff'd Shorty). The beauty of them was that they were simple, required no auxillaries such as compressors, vacuum lines or wiring, and were strong as they replaced the original axles.
"Great Basin Rovers" used to have them made up by McNamara and exported to the US. Around five years ago McNamara stopped supplying them as he wanted to focus on his new diff locker assemblies.
Bill Davis from Great Basin Rovers still has the original plans and intends to have them made up again by a new manufacturer this year (I spoke to him directly). He has started a backorder list and once he gets enough interest he will have a batch of them made up.
Here are the details:
A hub operated fully locking rear differential manufactured to our specifications in Austrailia. Designed for the Rover owner who would like the confidence of having a diff lock available in a pinch, but doesn't need or want the extra expense of cab operated controls. This diff lock is extremely strong, it eliminates all of the weak points of Rover diffs and axles. It is ideal for Series Land Rovers which suffer from the 10 spline axle fatigue problem. They are very simple and extremely reliable. These kits are the strongest, most reliable and best value in selctable locking diffs for Series Rovers that are available. They can also be special ordered for Salisbury Differentials.
Kit includes:
(1) - 4 pinion locking carrier
(2) - upgraded heavy duty 1.25"/24 spline salisbury style axles manufactured from EN 25 steel
(1) - locking hub,
(1) - specially hardened 24 spline drive flange.
(2) - conversion carrier
The price is excellent, the exchange rate is also good and much cheaper than an ARB Air locker so I have put myself on the backorder list. If anyone is interested just contact him through his website.
I'm in no way wanting to advertise for this retailer, I simply want to get the word out that they may be available again, if only for a short time.
Are these the ones where the axle winds into a mini spool?
Any idea on price?
