A transfer case overhaul kit, (new bearings, gaskets, o-rings etc). If you're going to pull it out to do the conversion you may as well overhaul it at the same time. All you get with the transfer conversion kit from the UK is a modified case and new gears.

G'day All, Firstly I haven't sen one in the flesh, but have sen pix, and it is apparent that the Intermeadiate shaft is moved to accomodate the ?increased size of the Int/gear, by that I mean the std existing hole in the rear of the L/R T/case is welded up along with the recesses inside the case for the thrust washers etc, it is all then moved and redone, remember I haven't seen one in the flesh but thats my recollection of it, I'm sure if I'm wrong someone will nail me for it LOL cheers Dennis

If money is tight you can skip the full rebuild kit - I've rebuilt a few cases and the bearings have always been in good nic. You will need new thrust washers for the intermediate gear and a few spare shims for the speedo case (which you may or may not need). I'd check servicability first then get what you need. Also get some shim metal to go behind the intermediate thrush washers - for some reason every case i've done the new washers still do not bring the gear to within spec.

I'd say poor machining, from memory they bore out the case - fit a larger machined piece in with a hole in it for the inter shaft. Looked like they were just pressed / locktighted in?. Did look a bit dodgy - but i've had no problems other than excess clearence for the gear end play (which i doubt is that big a problem anyway)
