How much more offset do you want???

You can gain about 20 mm extra just by cutting the welds, knocking the centres in and rewelding. Any more than that (30 mm +) and you need to flip the centres - however where you weld the centre back in depends on the offset/backspacing you want to end up with.

EDIT Summerfield engineering (race engineering DO flip the centres and also charge the earth) who did a set for me don't flip the centres - instead they turn down the lip on their lathe so they can move it back further.

    Jason,

No problems. The IIA rims are flipped, my 110 rims are not.

The guy who did the IIA rims was just a backyard guy who built speedway cars. He cut the welds out with an oxy (which actually cuts into the rim bands) then knocked the centres out and ground everything smooth. To set them up straight before welding he just uses a hub on a spindle, and a simple run out indicator (a lump of steel will do for that), then welds them up with a MIG.

Because he cuts through the bands the rims can leak if there are pinholes in his welds, but I had my rims galvanised which fixes that.

The 110 rims were done by Summerfield Eng in Perth - who only charged $40+GST! per rim. They use a lathe to cut the welds off which is much neater, but I don't like the fact that they machine the centre down, or that they use one continuous weld (it is easier for them and easier to balance, but not good for crack propagation). However, the 110 rims have cone the CSR, gibb, kimberley, etc and are fine.

Well did a bit today , its starting go slow now..Put a second coat on the gearbox mounts..Also painted the side covers & the front engine case..

Also got the crank back in along with the cam..

Then started to strip out the head & clean it..

Tried to get a good pic of this its showing how much crap has built up in the ports..its about 2 to 3 mil thick..

I'll still clean the head tomorrow & i also hope to pic up the rings & i'll also get the engine & gearbox mounts..Just need to get a clutch & then i can put them together .OOps no i cant i still need the gasket to go under the oil catcher in the hand brake but i cant get it so will have to make one but need the gasket paper & cardboard first so i'll get some tomorrow aswell..
What colour should i paint the sump BLACK or YELLOW ?????????????...
