Well i took a break off Harry for a few days cause is was getting to the point where i was going to hit it all with the big hammer..Everything is packed it tight into my 2 little sheds & geting sic of having to unpack them to work then pack them up again..

I have been doing some work to the camper .. Repainted it & all the spring pins where seized & i could'nt grease them so had all them off aswell to fix..

It started to rain a little.

I have'nt put the black pipe that holds the poles back on the drawbar as i'd like to find somewhere else for them so can get some of the weight off the drawbar..

I did a little to Harry I now have the bonnet it was droped off here the other day..
I have painted the hinges & started to strip the other gaurd & the bonnet.

Does anyone know if i can get another one of these..Its no drama if i cant but would like to if posable..

it is under the bonnet & in the middle of the bonnet..

You asked me about the vacuum brake bleeder. Here are some pics:

    Now for something completely different.

Have you ever been under a vehicle trying to get oil into an awkward place?

    Like diffs or gearbox?

    Sure you have.

And you have reverted to things like funnels and suction pumps and the like...

... and got frustrated because you still need at least 3 hands.

Well, I got to thinking about something my old man used over 40 years ago. In his case, he was a bit more fortunate in that oil came in metal cans and they were strong.

That, however did not deter me.

Have you seen those Tom Thumb pressure bottles that are available to hand pump the oil?

With a couple of mods, they can be used quite well.

Fire a schraeder valve in the top and block the air hole in the lid and you have something like this:

Now - one thing to mention. Unlike the old metal tins of yesteryear, these plastic ones expand rather alarmingly with air pressure - so, if you make one, go easy on the air pressure.

The FL1 is costing me enough money as it is, mate. They say if you have a LandRover you have no money, how true, how true!!!!!

    G'Day Banjo,

Got stuck at home for a few days recovering from hernia repair job. Couldn't do bu**er-all so started from the first page of your thread and followed it right through to the present. What an education on LR's! It's been great seeing how one comes apart, and goes back together again. As a bloke who is new to Land rovers and pretty inexperienced in the mechanicking side of things, thanks heaps for the informal instruction.
Will follow the rest with great interest...

    Coop
PS My Series 3 (1976) doesn't have any placards with tyre pressures on it anywhere. I just have a riveted plate above the transmission tunnel with max weights on it. But the bonnet you have is from a Stage 1 isn't it?

Thanks Coop , I dont work so i spend most days working on Harry this is my 9th landrover build all series but yet to own a series1.
Yeah the whole front end is off a stage one, But i liked the sticker & thought if i could get another one easy i would get one..
I still have to find somewhere to put the complience plate on the front as it has to go back on the front ..
I just need to get another clutch as the one in the green one went so grabbed the new one outa Harry. That way i can get the gearbox back into it.

It's something, apparently, you can swap land rover parts for. On something called the internet
