    Centre Diff Actuator Stage 1

    Hello all,

    I just recently picked up a lovely 1980 Stage 1 and would like to confirm all the odds and ends work.

    What is the best way to test the centre diff actuator is working?

    I've pulled and twisted however cant hear a 'ping' or any sort of difference . I also tried dropping the clutch a little in softish sand when ensuring the front axel was complete.

    Any other suggestions?

    Definitive test.

    Handbrake on
    Gearbox neutral (or T/C neutral)
    Jack up one front wheel
    With centre diff unlocked the jacked up wheel can be spun freely (well, relatively freely anyway) as the centre diff will operate as a differential, and the motion will spin the gearbox.
    With centre diff locked, front wheel can only be turned a small part of a turn, as the front output shaft from the transfer case is now locked to the handbrake.

    HI John,

    The center diff worked! Did exactly as you said and even heard the ping of the actuator as i rolled the wheel.

    Would say the wheel would only move about 1/8th of a turn before locking up.

    Is there anything to do for maintenance of the actuators?
