Series III 2.25 Petrol Spin-on oil filter mod

My 2.25 petrol engine has the original "bucket and bolt" type of oil filter where only the internal element is changed- along with my shirt after the oil has run down my sleeve.

Has anyone had any experience with a modification for spin-on filters? If so, are there kits available for this purpose?

I'll be interested in responses as I have a NEW ETC5347 adapter that I haven't fitted yet. If you can find 'em new they're normally well over GBP 200 but I got one NOS for fifty quid or so. As this is an official Land Rover part it should work...

Googling, someone on the UK appears to have 'em for sale: ETC5347 OIL FILTER ADAPTOR | Land Rover Series 1948-1984: Engine: Mechanical | shop | www.lrseries.com | L. R. Series

    Cheers,

    R.

Look to near the bottom of this page and you will see a spin on oil filter adapter that I have shortlisted for purchase in the near future.

Rocky Mountain Products, Parabolic Springs, Shackle Kits, Shock Absorber Kits

I note that they have mentioned they are redesigning another version of the one previously offered.

edit:whoop! look above for a reference to what I was talking about. Do you have any feedback with the mod Isuzurover?

Not much to say really. Just bolt it on and spin on a filter. Worth the money to avoid getting oil everywhere when changing the filter.

After having one I could never go back to a cartridge type filter.

EDIT - very simple bit of kit. It would be easy to have a batch machined up.

I've emailed the suppliers and they are in the process of manufacturing the new units. Should have them soon and will contact me when they do.

Nope didn't hear from them in spite of a further enquiry. Eventually got one from the UK- seems OK but haven't installed it yet- hope to do so in the next few days.
