Bad brakes nearly broke a Toyota

I had a awful scare with a FJ45 that I was driving for a geophysics mob which I was working for on Ning Bing station, north of Kununurra. Later on a job recce, somewhere near Tunnel creek, WA, a workmate and myself spotted a easy slope up a limestone ridge and boys being boys, we decided to climb up using the FJ45 to have a look over the other side.
Well! the Toyota climbed up ok, but once we got there, I couldn't hold it with either the foot or hand brake on from going back. Away it went, after hitting a large limestone boulder at the bottom and blowing the rock to smithereens, we got out of the unscathed Toyota , discussing the stock market and the latest drop in price of fertilizer shares.

By that time of driving this Toyota, I was sure missing my 2a flat tray which was back at the motel at Kununurra. The brakes on my six cylinder Land Rover where way better than that FJ45.

    bounce thread time

Is the crank, conrods and cam from the 3 litre able to be directly swapped over to the 2.6 without any major modifications?

Still hoping for a reply to this too, just out of interest.
I don't know, but I saw that there is plenty of clearance around the crank and big ends in the 2.6, I reckon the 3.0 bits would fit.
Wish I had a 3.0 to try it....

    Hi Terry

Try sticking a add in the wanted section on this forum, you never know but I am tipping that someone would have one to get rid of.

It might be quicker to contact the various Rover Owner clubs around Oz and ask them - see if any are on the net,

I know I said I wish.... but I really don't need another project at the moment.
Still haven't got the 2.6 back together, fences to fix, 2 sheds with roofs half off after the wind a couple of weeks ago, etc, etc.

But if one landed in in the driveway, well......
