S3. Engine a/c and dash options

    Hi all
I may have the good fortune of acquiring an s3 and I have 3 questions

It has no engine. Has engendering certificate and reg for a v8 what are my engine options not concerned about originality as the rest of the truck is well tricked up. I can get a good commodore v6 for $200... Nice price
4.6 p38 would be awesome on straight LPG no need for injection wiring/ ecu just ignition. Just would need a rebuild to hold the oil in.

    Thoughts?

It might also need a rebuild with new cylinder liners, which is rather expensive; this engine has a reputation for slipping liners.

Have a think and a read about running on straight LPG, especially regarding ignition modifications; Megasquirt springs to mind as a highly efficient and tuneable ignition system.

What sort of gearbox do you propose to use? It has to be un-burstable of course, which the Rover one isn't, ExtraEFI.co.uk HOME

It currently has a 5 speed RR classic manual and overdrive ontop of that. No idea how all on this works. Haven't done a search but how hard is it to covert to coils? Also can I fit a defender or county dash? Cheers Matt

    Have a read here MS-Megasquirt/Jolt - LR4x4 - The Land Rover Forum

It took me two days to read about how it all works but those who have done it seem very happy,

Defender dash is doable but the unit in the engine bay is huge and rather crap to be honest

Your better to us a hot rod type unit like a Vintage air system thats what I will be doing once I find the right truck

    aircon suggestion

i would be considering a red dot system as the 300tdi type aircon is best described as crap. freezes knees and knuckles before icing up.

How about moving the grill forward and fitting a p38 4.6l v8?

Was it the stage one that ha the grill level with the light like a defender?
