Thread: Brake Booster install dramas

Hi,

After a week of pulling and pushing suspension bushes, the install of a brake booster was suppose to be pretty straight forward..........

I removed the the old inline series 3 system, and replaced the pedal assembly, booster, master cylinder and vac line with little issue. All wheel cylinders, brake shoes and drums were replaced. Once all connected the system was bled 5 or 10 times, however the pedal (without the spring attached) would only return to about the half travel position. There was no pedal resistance until a quarter inch from the floor. After a lot of head scratching we removed the booster and found the back plastic sleeve between the booster and the pedal attachment had shattered from contact with the top of the pedal. WTF???

The booster part number is stc1816, but the "stroke" seems too short. At the idle position the pedal only sits at half travel. Is there any adjustment (couldn't find any) or do we have the wrong part???

Thanks for your reply. Solved the issue this morning. All it needed was a little adjustment of the booster pushrod.
