    Yes, Land Rover made them!

I have also seen Land Rover 200tdi, Mitsubishi, Nissan and Isuzu diesels in SIII, probably many others.

If you can get the short bellhousing R380 or Land Rover 90 LT77 the 200Tdi conversion is made much more simple.

In fact I have a friend here in Sydney with an NA Mitsubishi diesel in a SIII parts donor, from memory he didn't want all that much for the engine and other bits. I do remember that the LHS engine mount need to be removed for the Mitsu injector pump.

Don't know what model or size engine it is, but it was running when he purchased it.

    Yeah cool

On the hunt for a 3 first

But am wondering about the whole thing
    Plenty of 202 conversions
    Or was that standard.

I dont know anyone selling one but just saying keep an eye out for one so you might be able to get a good diesel engine. I had a s3 2.25l I quite liked it, the power and fuel economy was quite good I thought

I reckon either a 2.25D with a turbo, straight through exhaust and tweaked fuel pump would have some get up and go, or a 200TDI with straight through exhaust and tweaked pump would have even more grunt and would have a bit more strength being made to handle a turbo. The Nissan SD33 is a great engine but not sure how good it is in a Land Rover but many people have put them in. An Izuzu 3.9 4BD1 is another good engine and has been put in landys many times. Just drop a 6.6 Duramax V8 in it that would be fun

theres a crate in my garage that has a diesel thats a straight bolt in for a 2.25 petrol, needs and overhaul but as the vehicle it was the spare for is no longer going to need it if you want it drop me a line.

It was going to go in the markets after the transplant for the intended vehicle was compelted anyway
