I fixed the drivers side windscreen wiper as per Scouse's instruction, but ended up having to remove the entire instrument panel and air ducting to get to windscreen wiper boss....but all fixed and looking much better. Also got the tray storage sorted out with a tradesmen's box, two jerry can holders, gas bottle holder and my ghetto mtn bike holder...pretty stoaked at how it turned out. I have allowed room to get to spare tyre.

    refer here for tray layout:

    Hey Mate!

    I have a pretty similiar looking S3 1978 ute.

How easily did yours pass roadworthy?

Mine just failed on the suspension bushings, and the pinion and swivel seals.

The inspector told me that they are really hard on old vehicles because they want them off the road (QLD anyway, not sure where you are located)

Got all the bushes and seals, hopefully will find time to do them this weekend.

Looking at yours makes me really want to get out there and do something, very very tidy job you have done.

Mine passed very easy - I worked on it for about 5 months to get it ready for roadworthy. I also had to get the engine conversion blue plated which worried me a little but was a five minute tick and flick, rivet on the blue plate and hand over $200 cash.

Oh and my gearbox leaks like a sieve but I had it inspected by a person who knows old landrovers so understands the inherent issues with them.

All my suspension bushes are good and swivel seals are good as well. Swivel seals are not a hard job. Suspension bushes can be painful...just need patience!

    Good luck.

You were right about the suspension bushes... Took me 3 hours to do one bush, kept stripping the threaded rod/nuts i was using. Think i have found a sturdy enough rod and nut combo now, did the second one in under 1 hour.

Just a question, do you know if i can just take the whole hub assembly off in one piece? Instead of having to take everything apart to replace the swivel seals?
