Forgot to say that my Landie still had original rims and the previous tyres (7.50R16LT) were using an inner tube.
We have decided to take the inner tube away and go tubeless.... Have I done the right choice? We have submerged the tyres in water tanks before putting them back up on the Landie and there wasn't any air leak..
AH, pricewise the tyres were 240 each..

If you run tubeless tyres they must be fitted (legally) to tubeless rims. It can be dangerous to run tubeless on tubed type rims. In certain situations the tyre can pop off the bead.
If the tyres are contacting the springs on full lock this can be overcome by adjusting the lock stops.

I suggest you get some 2nd hand Disco 1 rims. They have a better off set and should stop the tyres touching the springs
285 is a big tyre for a series though.
You will end up with big arms!

    Thanks Philip!
Got to say the steering is not that heavy... Maybe only because the muddies have less surface making contact with the road I can't feel the extra weight.

Do you know if the marketplace within this forum may be able to help?

    Hi guys,

I have just noticed the rims I still have on the Landie (you can see in my pictures) we madder from Roh Wheels... Roh is an Australian brand... Being my car a CKD is it possible that these rims were originally installed back in '74?

You can legally put tubeless tyres on a tubed rim as long as you put a tube in it! The only downfall is the tyre will run hotter, but most series landies dont go fast enough for that to happen. Most series landies had 5 1/2" wide rims, 235 width tyres are too wide to be fitted ideally. They should go on a 6 1/2" wide rim.

I believe the only reason why is normally illegal is the fact the tire could "slip off" the rim in certain situations (very very rare occasions).

We did install a tubeless air-valve big enough for a truck so there is no way air can go out and at the end of the day they look quite good!
I'm wondering if it would be better to re-paint the rims or just buy the wolf ones.

The only thing with the wolf rims is that tey are quite heavy and the poor engine has already the bigger tires to think about (which already work as an overdrive in 4th gear..)

There is always something to think about when you have a series!

Bacicat. Did you find a set? I picked some up in Geelong recently and there were more.
