Hello from Harare - travelling and away from my library for a few weeks.
The South African six cylinder trucks were fitted with an Australian designed but SA built motor and were possibly paired with a Santa gearbox. The details of the motor and gearbox are well covered in James Taylor's book on S3 Land Rovers.
Cheers,
Was that the 6 cyl used in P76?
You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
The six was a locally made engine derived from the P76/Marina 2.6 OHC six. The South Africans also had a BMW six in Defenders.

Series III S
I have seen pictures from Rhodesia in the 70s with Land Rovers with front bench seats.

A while back a mate had a Jo'burg-purchased Series III 6 cyl hardtop. It had a fibreglass roof top with a rounded rear edge (similar to some early Series IIs, which had, I think, a similar rounded trailing edge). If I remember correctly, we at the time (1996) thought looked like a "factory" job.
I've found out some more info on my series it's colour is Spanish olive green (thanks for the link Gromit). I used the calVin to find out some more but it dosnt know what the 6 is at the end of the chassis no. is any ideas guys?

John's hit the nail on the head with the A&H roof deal which means the vehicle would likely have been distributed by Annand & Thompson before Leyland Truck and Bus took over in the mid 1970s.
The later A&H roofs had a fibreglass skin instead of the steel one, they were far more durable than the early ones and didn't leak like the LR factory jobbies.
