For many of your requests for information the official Series 3 workshop manual and parts manual are going to be your best first friend. If you are embarking on a reasonably prolonged refurbishment or restoration they are essentially mandatory tools.

If you don't already have them, they are readily available for around $40 - try Amazon or The Book Depository.
