Parts for these engines are getting harder to get but not impossible. Original exhaust manifolds without cracks on them are quite rare so you’ll need to keep your eyes peeled to find one if that’s what you are after? Regrading the headers Cooky made, they are not available new any more as he has passed away from what I’ve been told unfortunately. He was a guru on these engines and will be missed.
I recently purchased a second hand "six" exhaust manifold from a guy in Qld and i reckon he had a few new old stock ones as well.
    I will follow it up.

    Cheers, Mick.

Years back Four Wheel Drives had stacks of standard 6-cyl exhaust manifolds (from previous army auctions).
I fitted one to my FFR and have a spare still in the Land Rover packaging.

I doubt they would still have them, last time they sold them they were on Ebay for $100 but in the old catalogue they are $275.
Worth making contact with the current owners, their part number is Q86 (I'll send them an email).

Someone contacted me a while back after one, he was paying a very high price for a secondhand one. I also remember Four Wheel Drives talking to a UK buyer for all they had left.

Checked with SE Auto Imports (was Four Wheel Drives) and no exhaust manifolds in stock.

After following this up I found a guy who has "heaps" of "NOS" ones stored in a container, but at present he cant get to them until he leases a workshop premises.

    Extractors

    The three finished pieces

    Front section

    Rear section

    Third section

    Ceramic coating inside and out

    Close up front section pipes

    Close up rear section pipes

The ceramic coating cuts down radiated heat transfer by more than 50%. This keeps the exhaust gas traveling thru the exhaust at a greater speed. The smoothness of the internal ceramic coating also helps maintain maximum gas speed, resulting in less power loss and greater removal of heat from the exhaust valve and seat area. The ceramic coating also protects the extractor components from corrosion, both internally and externally, outlasting painted extractors by several times.

    Hey Mate,

Are these extractors still available anywhere?

Just a note on burning valves, back in the day we didn’t have radiator inhibitors and the water was from questionable sources when out bush. Both these factors lead to internal corrosion of the cooling system, the 2.6 has a water gallery made of brass that extends from the front of the block to the rear of the block. It is installed in two halves one from the front and one from the rear, they have a funny dogleg in the gallery so be very careful when removing it. The water is directed through this gallery to cool the block around the exhaust ports. When the gallery cooling holes/ slots become blocked / restricted the engine block adjacent to the exhaust valve no longer cools the valve seats leading to burnt valves.
So when doing up your engine make sure you clean out the cooling system thoroughly and keep it clean with a good inhibitor.

No - Cookey has passed away since. I have a set - unused, but not sure if I will sell them yet - still a maybe in the future as they are pretty much unobtainium and unmatched.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

    Hello Gavin,

Instead of selling them would it be possible to use them as a pattern so more sets could be made in the future for other 2.6 owners? Just a thought.

    Kind regards
    Lionel

Potentially Lotz-a-landies might know where Cookie used to have them manufactured, if the manufacturer still has the designs.
    Cheers
