My beloved '74 SWB Pick Up

    Hi guys,

I guess it is nice to share with you guys whatever is going on with my Series as you probably will be the only ones who understand the feeling of owning one!

After driving the truck back from Armidale to Sydney during Anzac holiday (without mechanical checks and with wife and dog with me) I can positively say I did buy a very well preserved and working '74 model!
Although it is a CKD Export model I like to think because it was assembled in Australia, its been put together in a better way!

Since then the works have been:

New battery, replaced brake fluid, transmission oil, air filter oil, spark plugs, radiator hoses and fan belt, radiator liquid and also flushed the entire system, oil filter, oil sump seal, engine oil, differential oil, greased the steering joints, ball joints and any other grease injection point. (battery $400 and everything else $460+gst). Mechanic was actually su

Just ordered new lower shock rubbers, rear axle seals, rear brake shoes, front crank seal, radiator cap and lower shock bushes. ($61+gst)

The car drives great since it had the works done, she runs much smoother.
Next step would be a set of Exmor seats (although I would prefer seats made of canvas but they come more expensive), all the body rubbers, new tyres and a complete paint job (maybe navy blue with ivory roof and rims).

Plan is to keep her forever and one day take her back to Europe. As she has no rust at all I guess if treated properly she is in for the long run!!

Would you guys install a rust protection system?

Some new pictures from the ones in my profile and will post some interiors ones during the week end!

    Ciao to all!

Andrea, if you can keep it warm and dry corrosion will not be a problem. No driving on beaches.
    Very nice find!

    Hi guys,
Just an update on my beloved little truck!
Still surprised to see little or not at all rust and many of the original Lucas components are still up and running strong!
    Oh I love her!

Need to ask an advice... In one of the pictures you can see the empty space between the body and the roof...is it possible to seal that space with a body rubber? Is it a complicated process? Or just a lift, put the rubber and then the roof back on?

There should be a rubber moulding there.

You should be able to get them from an Australian supplier.
    Roof off to fit.

    Hi Andrea,
jees that is a great series 3, I would leave it all original as far as paint goes as it tells the story of the vehicle.
    Regards
    Paul
